Robson Stannard and The Art of Regeneration

Ever conscious of minimising and utilising our waste, we commissioned artist Robson Stannard to create works for Spring 2024 by upcycling paper offcuts salvaged from the COLFORD studio.

Robson Stannard graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2017 with a degree in Fashion Illustration, quickly establishing himself as a dynamic force on the contemporary British art scene. His distinctive approach — defined by bold, vibrant colour palettes and expressive, gestural mark-making — explores the human form and its relationship with fashion through an abstract, illustrative lens.

Since graduating, Stannard has attracted high-profile commissions, including a residency with Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio during Paris Fashion Week. In recent years, Stannard’s creative focus has evolved, expanding to embrace floral motifs first inspired by contemplative countryside walks taken during lockdown. This new direction marks a poetic extension of his exploration of form and movement, infusing his practice with a fresh sense of organic vitality.

The artworks created by Stannard using offcuts of paper from the COLFORD studio combine painting and collage techniques in Robson’s signature style. Abstracted springtime flowers emerge from a ground of textured recycled stocks and bloom into unique gift embellishments with a positive message of reincarnation.

Present giving provides endless potential for experimentation and storytelling. Robson’s springtime flowers bloom into three dimensions, forming seasonal embellishments for mono-material, fully recyclable wrapping designs that centre on responsible creativity, with Mother Nature as the muse.

What began as a mission to find purpose for waste paper clippings from the COLFORD studio, blossomed into intriguing springtime collages, crafted in Robson’s inimitable style, demonstrating the endless possibilities of paper.
